7 Feb 1970. FA Cup. When United won 8-2 and Bestie scored 6.

Yes, I was there - and so my love affair with United and Bestie became indelibly marked on my brain.

Just thought I'd throw this into the "Old Match" thread. Although not a Prem game, this thread needed a new posting and besides, there's nothing on TV

Your first game Willie? 17 yrs before I was born.

How much did you pay for the ticket?

Blimey ! Pre decimal currency. My Dad took me. I'm guessing at about 7/6d- That's 7 shillings and six pence which, in today's money is 37.5 pence. That's approximately the cost of getting into a game around then, I think.

Not my first game - that was Leicester City v Man United in 1966. Then, it was about 6d (Sixpence - or 2.5 pence today)

Here's the team that Wilf McGuinness picked to play that day:

Quote:
Starting XI

Alex Stepney
Paul Edwards
Tony Dunne
Paddy Crerand
Ian Ure
David Sadler
Willie Morgan
Carlo Sartori
Bobby Charlton
Brian Kidd
George Best

Substitutes

Francis Burns

But y'know, I've still not seen that much of Best play, there seems very little footage around except the odd highlight reel on YouTube where he dribbles for a second or two and then scores... but not much to get your teeth into and get a real sense of how he played and just how good he was.

Does anyone have any better/longer vids of him in action?
