My favourite stand-up at the moment has to be Roy Hodgson :ninja:

By far my favourite comedian around at the moment, and probably ever. I've been through various stages of liking a specific comedian over the past ten or so years but all have run out of steam or started to grate (Frankie Boyle), yet Jim shows no signs of letting up. His sense of humour is spot on with mine/my friends so I can't get enough of him!

He has a podcast out too, 'Talking sh*t with Jim and Eddie' which he does with an American comedian Eddie Ifft (never heard of him but looking him up on google I recognise his face from somewhere) it's available on iTunes and another provider on the net for those that don't like/use iTunes. If anyone wants the link give me a shout and I'll get it for you. It's brilliant - more of the same as his stand up but all improv stuff which makes it all the more funny.

Seconded. Listened to his CD "41st Best stand-up ever" on a long car journey home recently. Made the journey go much quicker.

I haven't seen a huge amount of Stuart Lee but from what I have he's pretty good. One joke sticks in the memory - where he's talking to Ang Lee.

'You won't like me when I'm Ang Lee'

Watched Kevin Bridges last night one of my favourite comedians going at the moment probably because he's only 23 so I sort of relate to the things he says about growing up.

I saw some of his old stuff briefly on Live at the Comedy Store last night (not sure if that's the same thing you watched JSP), but I quite like him as well. I think his delivery of jokes is really good, the one he tells about being mistaken for someone who works in a clothes shop is pretty funny.

I might have to check out more of his stuff.

I saw his stand up DVD which is basically his full set from the live at the apollo show plus other bits glad I didn't buy it as I'd heard a lot of it before but it's still funny.

It was quite similar to watching Frankie Boyles first DVD you sat their thinking hang on I've heard this joke before but it's still funny.

He's had a good year though he's sort of come out of nowhere so I imagine he'll be going back out on tour with new stuff next year so might look at going to see him.

Also, watched John Bishop & Ricky Gervais Science recently both good at what they do but for me the Gervais one was much funnier.

Kevin Bridges is that Scottish lad who takes 3 weeks to tell a joke isn't he? If so then I think he's absolutely $h!t. Not even remotely funny, takes far too long to say anything, and has some nerve even describing himself as a comedian... but that's just my take on the guy.

He is a little slow in telling his jokes lots of pauses but I guess thats just his style.

Maybe you're just to old to understand what he's talking about Spawny :p

That must be it mate, now I'm in my autumn years I haven't got 5 minutes to spare listening to a 30 second joke that's not funny.

Watched Russell Howard on BBC3 over Christmas, some gig he'd done in Brighton. Hilarious stuff that.

Yeah he's good but he's one of those who does a lot of TV work so you find you've heard most of it before when you watch his stand up shows.

I think he could do with trying something a little new to freshen up his act as he's been doing the same thing for a few years now but his Good News show on BBC3 is normally worth a watch.

I'm getting tired of seeing Russell Howard everywhere, and his on-stage 'character' (for want of a better word) is really starting to grate on me. Saw him live about a year ago and he was ok but nothing special. Saw Michael McIntyre around the same time and he is absolutely fantastic live, couldn't recommend him highly enough.

I'm also a big fan of Ricky Gervais' stand up, I really need to check out Science!

I do think that Russell Howard is a bit over exposed on TV, he's funny, but he's just on too much. Still think he's funny though.

I've been listening to a podcast called "WTF with Marc Maron" and I love it. Maron is a funny dude by himself, and he only interviews other comedians, writers, and directors. It's usually funny always interesting. Its available on iTunes and on his website I think. If you like comedy you should check it out. He does two episodes a week Monday and Thursday.

I tend to dislike stand up comedians called Russell, particularly Russell Howard. None of them are funny.

My favourites atm are probably Lee Evans, Robin Williams and the guys that do Whose Line (US version).
