Karen Gillan was reportedly found naked in a New York hotel corridor after a night of partying in April.

The Doctor Who star was wrapped in a sheet by hotel security and escorted to her room after being found nude and "whimpering" at 7am at The Ace in Manhattan, the Daily Mail reports.

A permanent resident of the hotel told the newspaper that he heard someone trying to get into his room and went to investigate."I went to the peephole and looked out. I saw a man at the lift who was looking back at someone who was attempting to open my door," he said.

"The next thing I saw was a woman giving this person at my door two towels before getting into the lift and leaving."

He added: "Then I saw this young woman, completely naked, trying to wrap two towels around her and not having much luck

"She then started to whimper and knock on my door. Seeing that she wasn't getting anywhere, she lay down with the towels covering her"

Eccleston has ruled out even returning for the 50th anniversary, I'd be amazed if he ever returned to the role full time.

Matt Smith is ace! Fits the doctor who mould perfectly by being so quirky!!!

I love the ark as well, its great having the one story in all the episodes as well as side stories to watch as well.

I think it's gone downhill fast, think I remember reading viewing figures are down as well. My 8 year old son doesn't like it half as much any more either, he prefers to watch the Tennant ones over and over rather than repeats of Smith. No offence intended to Smith, I just don't think he's a very good actor and unfortunately for him his predecessors were excellent so its noticeable imo.

A shame. And I don't think this stupid 50/50 split broadcasting one series over two years will help revive it either, they need a new Doctor to get the figures back up.

All true i think, but not just that, these story arcs are trying too hard to be clever and so as a result get a bit contrived, they have to stretch them a bit thin at time to make them work.

Its a shame that Ecclestone would never come back, he was a fine actor and had brought the kind of authority and mad professor presence that pertwee brought to the role, plus as the doctor is a time traveller it would be easy to make his come back be before the start of the first series in his timeline, but there are lots of fine actors out there and Smith to me is too much of a cross between Sylvester Macoy and Peter Davidson.

Viewing figures are actually about as good as the first 4 series if you take into consideration iPlayer and such. Watching after broadcast is a lot more common now than it was in the first few years, so you'd expect the overnight figures to be down. The first half of this series has been a big improvement on series 5 in my view.

Also true.

It is a shame. While Ecclestone seems quite proud of relaunching it he is completely dead set against coming back, saying "I never bathe in the same river twice".

Smith IS Slyvester Macoy that's the main problem lol, or as bad as, because a more convincing actor could and would have pulled off weaker scripts much better imo, and that's the big difference now. It didn't matter if Ecclestone (or to a lesser extent Tennent, who got some much better story lines imo) got a bad one because their charisma or presence or ability (or whatever you want to call it) shone through regardless whereas Smith is largely anonymous in the role.

The fault lies with the writing, which considering his previous good efforts is a huge drop in standard, the new guy really needs to get Russell T. Davies back in to edit/select them (never thought I'd say that about that obnoxious chunky monkey but he knew what he was doing). Phil Collinson hasn't a clue what he's doing despite his obvious talent with scripts he doesn't know which are good ones and which aren't worth making. He said something about "jokes for the adults and scary bits for the kids" - guess again. And there are jokes in it? The kids liked the action sequences and happy endings not being confused and bored and also not scared... only thing that came close to making him nervous was the chicken eating dust mites the Vashta Nerada... out of all of the relaunched series' episodes - that's it. He used to say "this is just like Ben 10" and now he says it is "boring". He's not gone off Dr Who though, still watches the non-Smith ones and The Sarah Jane Adventures religiously... and it's a pity about Elizabeth Sladen passing away because I think that CBBC spin off was about to overtake the main Dr Who show in popularity.

Each to their own mate, the last series was a total write off imo. I think children are the best judge and they watched it on the back of the series before, but he said after seeing them all "they were a bit rubbish" and this was his favourite thing before that he couldn't stop talking about, watching, playing action figures, computer and board games, etc. All the time and I do mean all lol. He's still at it but in familiar fashion a la the episodes it's the Tennant action figure he goes to play with. The new monsters/baddies figures get included but Smith's Doctor plastic figure goes largely unused.

After hearing the news about splitting up the next series over two years I assume it's due to popularity reasons, that old BBC trick where they drip feed something after they think they've exposed it too much so as to cause public to lose interest, Gladiators stylee. Only like I said, I don't think over exposure is the problem.

I think they can only return to the previous level by recognising their mistakes and address the quality of the main actor and the scripts that are too poor to continue the show's previous success.

Matt Smith seems a fine actor to me..I've always thought Doctor Who was a bit sh*t but have found these watchable..

Even good actors are only as good as the script they're working with though, to be fair.

The return date for Doctor Who in the UK and US has been revealed at Comic-Con 2011.

The sci-fi's sixth series will continue on BBC One and BBC America on August 27, the panel of Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, writer Toby Whithouse and outgoing executive producers Piers Wenger and Beth Willis confirmed.

Smith and Gillan further teased that fans could expect "huge cliffhangers" and the disclosure of some unexpected "secrets" when Doctor Who's remaining six episodes air.

"My secret, I've still got. And you still don't know it," Gillan said of her character Amy Pond's future. "It's so exciting! I feel so powerful now."

"Steven [Moffat]'s told Karen something about… we can't even say what it's about," Smith teased. "She's told me what it's about, but she won't say what it is."

Doctor Who's first two episodes back will be entitled 'Let's Kill Hitler' and 'Night Terrors'. The 11th instalment of the sixth season, written by Whithouse, is titled 'The God Complex'.

The show was renewed for a seventh season in June, though its 14 episodes will be spread out between 2012 and 2013.
