Wondering if anyone's been or planning to go to any gigs/festivals etc this summer? Been to Download and saw the mighty Metallica and Sabbath, was awesome! Soundgarden on 13th in London at Hard rock calling and the Green Man in Mid August.

Busy time ahead!

I missed out on Download as it was 2 days before my exam (whch my job is dependant on, so not like I could afford to write it off). The lineup is by far the best I've ever seen of any festival in my lifetime, and from the guys I know that did go, they said it didn't disappoint whatsoever.

Usually at festivals there's 4 or 5 bands you really want to see, but at Download there was probably three times that. Incredible. I'm absolutely gutted I missed it, even moreso because that Black Sabbath lineup are unlikely to ever play together again over here.

What bands were you mainly going to see Sparky? And who were the standout performers?

Normally I go to Sonisphere but it was cancelled this year, so I just decided to get a group of mates and go to a crap, cheap festival just so I've at least got one to go to this summer. It's called Brownstock, from what I've heard it's a tiny one in Essex, nobody particularly famous and especially nobody I'd want to hear play there but I'm just going to have a good time with mates.

Going to Wireless on Sunday, me and a few others go every year. I don't really like any of the music they ever have there but it's always a good day out. Plus Rihanna is hot so I didn't mind too much this year.

Yeah it was amazing mate. Mainly went up to see Tallica, Sabbath, Soundgarden, Tenacious D, Biffy and Slash and caught them all. Sabbath was the highlight, they were amazing! Yeah Download had an exceptional line up this year fair play. Steel Panther the suprise package, I know it's a piss take but they really impressed me, plus Corey Taylor sang with them too!

Just come back from Essex, been up there all weekend!

Yeah all my friends said Steel Panther were fantastic. I quite like their album without loving it, but it didn't surprise me to hear they put on a good show. Some of their lyrics are hilarious  Oh, and they all said they saw more boobs during Steel Panther than at any other time in their life!

Didn't even know Slash was there, he any good? I've heard mixed things about him in the past but would love to see him at some point.

Corey Taylor is just the mustard, said it plenty of times before but I don't think I've seen a better frontman in my time.

Heard Metallica were amazing. They're my favourite band so you can imagine how gutted I was to miss them play the entire Black album (and more) :wall:

I love Slash's "solo" stuff.

His latest album with Myles Kennedy is great.

I'd not heard of Kennedy before, and he's not bad at all. Good stuff.

I like that too, ta for the head's up.

It's nice to hear a metal vocalist these days who can actually sing instead of grunt or scream.

Their first album only, don't even bother listening to the second or third!

Seen them live two or three times and they were really good. The drummer is a beast, and lead singer has fantastic vocals.

Headliners for next years Download have been announced - Slipknot, Iron Maiden and Ramstein

Checked my exam dates and I'm finished a few days before so I'm all over this festival after the disappointment of this year.

Can't wait for Steel Panther in November, and also seeing Stone Sour (for the 4th time IIRC) in December.
