Oh yeah, I realize that. I thought you were being very optimistic at 150.

Hopefully Bell can convert this before he runs out of time. Be good for his confidence in the coming series.

Bell should be there to steady the ship and keep it ticking over like Phil Hughes did for Agar his wicket is the valuable one.

Hopefully we can put another 50+ on for the next wicket before Finn/Anderson come in we can't afford a tail end batting collapse like we had in the first innings give ourselves something decent to defend.

Bell with a very Bell-like innings atm. I think 300 lead would be just enough and hopefully they can last till tomorrow lunchtime. Chuck the Aussies in and try and bowl them out in a day and a half. Broad can score quite handily too.

Great from Bell and Broad. Come on lads, let's get the lead over 300.

I think the lead is enough to defend but would be great to get it up above 300.

Plenty of time left in the game

Proper English victory that. Go in as heavy favourite, make hard work of it, try and throw it away, then come out with a narrow victory in the end.

Gotta love Jimmy Anderson

When Cook left Finn bowling before lunch when he'd just gone for 15 off his last over I thought we were gonna lose it

Only change I would make is possibly swap Finn for Bresnan or Onions. All the rest I'd keep the same.

Gotta do something with Finn, either he finds some form or he's gotta go. Who goes for 15 an over in a test match ffs :wall:

Finn for Bresnan is the only change I see as Bresnan can occupy an end and also bats a bit as well whereas Finn can be a wicket tacker but he's too erratic.

The only thing that might save him is this test is on his home pitch where he usually bowls well which might just about save him.

Being Finn's home ground may sway the decision in his favour, but if he plays the second test and doesn't perform then he's got to be out.

So, Finn dropped which is all good IMO.

What's not so good is England being 33-3 :wall:

Bell doing well to steady the ship again. Who thought we'd be saying that at the start of the series.

Me I'm a huge Ian Bell fan.

Gets a lot of stick but over the last few years since his break from the side he's really tightened up his game he doesn't do it everytime but he's not giving his wicket away anymore I think coming in at 5 suits him if the openers have put the runs on he can play his shots if they haven't he can be a bit dogged.
