I am now the proud owner of FIFA 13 after blackmailing my brother to get it for me. :fonz:

Why the hell is defending so hard in this game?

Just started career mode with Bolton and trying to get them back in the Prem. Tough work.

You'll get used to it.

And remember now is an excellent time to start a thread that gets in the running for thread of the year.

The difficulty change of the AI after you score a goal is unreal, they suddenly become untacklable Ronaldos, all of the other team. :D

I went on for a bit last night and did much better, still controlling the full team.

I only use basic buttons, there's just too much. Basically pass, shoot, through ball, sprint.. and run around like a headless chicken.

Could do with learning the skills and such. I do those tutorial things before games, but I don't think they're improved my actual game play much.

You can change to the legacy defending mode, which is a bit easier (and what I use) :ninja:

Got Fleetwood Town promoted to the premiership, via the playoffs. Won he Europa League in that same season after winning a domestic cup the year before.

Pretty good team of players some of which ive never heard of..possibly made up by the game itself.

------------------Gomes-------------------

--Naughton----De Lima?---Boyata---Izaguirre

------------------Romaric------------------

Albrighton-----------------------Sterling---

---------------Bertoli--------------------

------Loviso--------- J Rodriguez-------

Loads of random players i've picked up on the cheap in the subs and the odd one or two i've paid about £3m-£4m for..Pak being an example, no idea who he is but I think he's a real one, paid about £5m for him.

The likes of Loviso and Bertoli i've got as free agents when they're like 19 years old. Loviso was about 71 overall, got him at 17 yrs old. He's worth about £23m now.

I've took on loads of kids like that, bring them in for free then sold them a year or so later for about £5m+ as there's usually another one to replace them in next seasons free agents.

The best free transfer I picked up was a lad called Franco di Roberto, who was a 5'5" Italian lad. I was playing as Gillingham, and in the Championship at the time, and really needed an injection of cash, so when Bayern offered me £20m for him I took it (also took £15m from Barcelona for a midfielder I'd picked up for nothing). About 4 seasons later I bought him back for £70m  His overall is 93, which makes him my best player, just ahead of a Serbian centre back that the game created, and Nick Powell.

Sounds very similar to Loviso that I got. He's about 5,5 really quick, good ball control, dribbling etc...finishing below in the 70s. Overall he's on about 81 (he's probably about 22 now so still a way to go) and the offers of £18-20m have started coming in.

Sounds about right, yeah. Looks like they've patched it to reduce the number of good young players, the more recent career modes I've started I only get 1 or 2 decent young players as free transfers per summer, whereas there used to be loads. Duricic (the centre back I got in a previous game) was a free agent, 18 years old with a 78 overall.

Ah right, can't say im too surprised like as it did make for a fairly easy beginning with a poor club. I ended up getting a few of those in and selling them asap for a few hundred k (if they weren't that top level like the £20m men) then I could just get a few players on loan, like I got Pogba on loan from Juve in my first season with Fleetwood Town. Not the most realistic out come :p

It did make it easy, but it let me feel like I was an expert of finding hidden talent in the transfer market, taking a punt on the youngsters that nobody else wanted and turning them into stars!!

On my old Gillingham file I have 7 players in my first XI that were randoms generated by the game and chucked on the free list, of the rest there are 2 who came through my scouting system, plus Jack Butland and Nick Powell.

On my more recent Gillingham file I couldn't be bothered so simulated most of my season in the Championship, finished 1 place above the relegation zone, got sacked, and then got the Middlesbrough job and a transfer kitty of £79m :fonz: Press predicting that we'll finish 21st... somehow I doubt that with a team of:

Butland
Byram
Bennet (the one from Norwich, forget his first name)
Tompkins
Shaw
Williams (had to keep one actual Boro player in there!!)
Morrison (Ravel)
Vela (Josh)
Barkley
Murphy (fella from Sheffield United)
Hooper

:D

Does Fifa have a management part then?

I think I might get a football game, not sure whether to get this or manager
