In some ways I'm a bit disappointed as I prefer playing new teams in Europe, but there's no doubting these games will be electric.

Spurs Dortmund is also going to be fantastic.

. LVG has a good record against Liverpool but they are due to ruin that at some point ..

While initially it was very stop start under Klopp they seem to be getting a consistent level of performance with a settled team and you can see he's getting his message across.

To be honest 2 years in the players/fans seem just as confused about the LVG plan as we did in the first month.

The best we've looked under Van Gaal was that pre season tour in his first season.

It's not like they haven't played at big grounds before they play at Bernebeu, Nou Camp etc every season they've played at Old Trafford before.

Anfield is obviously a tough ground to go to because Liverpool for decades were a fantastic team that dominated Europe but this isn't a fantastic team it's a pretty good one.

Liverpool obviously are one of those clubs that you always expect to come back from a defecit but I think it'll be hard you have to wonder if they maybe used up all their luck in the last round with that crazy comeback vs Dortmund.

I don't particularly care if they do if they do win it they deserve it they've been in from the start they'll have knocked out Utd & Dortmund plus a very strong Spanish side and beaten the side who've won it 2 years in a row in the final.

I think they've got a good chance but considering the record they have in this competition you have to make Sevilla slight favourites they win it again they should just rename it the Sevilla cup it'll be 3 in a row and something like 5 in 10 seasons.

You will care if united get 4th

EDIT

This is way too confusing for me, I just read if Liverpool win the Europa we will have 5 teams in Europe. But the article I posted seemed to indicate we could only end up with 5 teams if City and Liverpool won.

As I understand it now, 4th place is guaranteed a CL spot now.

So we need Arsenal to get a result at City and win all our games.

Mr C I demand an apology :p :p :p :p :p

From the UEFA Website

Quote:
Where the winners enter
• The UEFA Champions League winners will be entered in the UEFA Champions League group stage as normal (though both Atlético and Real Madrid have already qualified via the Spanish Liga).

• The UEFA Europa League winners will be entered in the UEFA Champions League at a minimum level of the play-offs ...

• ... but as both UEFA Champions League finalists will have already qualified, whoever wins the UEFA Europa League will be elevated into the group stage (the UEFA Champions League winners have qualified directly for the UEFA Champions League group stage via their domestic league programme every year since the turn of the century bar 2005, 2007 and 2012).

So Liverpool/Sevilla will enter into the group stage of CL if they win the Europa League along with the top 3 clubs from the PL/La Liga. The 4th place team from that league will go into the final play off round as normal.

We just need city's run of poor form to continue into Sunday. Away at Swansea is no done deal either.

Mind you, unfortunately I don't see united winning all their games either, that West Ham match is tricky, last game at the Boleyn and all.

Kind of makes the last few weeks exciting though.

I'll be traveling back home from the UK on the Sunday it all finishes :-( wont know what's going on.

Manchester United will face Fenerbahce, Feyenoord and Zorya Luhansk in the group stage of the Europa League.

It pits United against their former striker Robin van Persie, who is now with Fenerbahce.

Southampton, the other Premier League side still in the competition, will play Inter Milan, Sparta Prague and Hapoel Beer Sheva.

League of Ireland side Dundalk have been drawn with Zenit St Petersburg, AZ Alkmaar and Maccabi Tel-Aviv.

Full draw:

Group A: Man Utd, Fenerbahce, Feyenoord, Zorya Luhansk

Group B: Olympiacos, Apoel Nicosia, Young Boys, Astana

Group C: Anderlecht, St Etienne, Mainz, Qabala

Group D: Zenit St Petersburg, AZ, Maccabi Tel-Aviv, Dundalk

Group E: Plzen, Roma, Austria Vienna, FC Astra Giurgiu

Group F: Athletic Bilbao, Genk, Rapid Vienna, Sassuolo

Group G: Ajax, Standard Liege, Celta Vigo, Panathinaikos

Group H: Shakhtar Donetsk, Braga, Gent, Konyaspor

Group I: Schalke 04, FC Red Bull Salzburg, Krasnodar, Nice

Group J: Fiorentina, PAOK Salonika, Liberec, Qarabag

Group K: Inter Milan, Sparta Prague, Southampton, Hapoel Beer Sheva

Group L: Villarreal, Steaua Bucharest, FC Zurich, Osmanlispor

Really can't help but think they'd be better off making the Europa League a straight knock out comp this group stage just feels like a right ball ache and can't imagine it's that lucrative financially for the clubs considering they all have to make squads bigger due to the number of matches.

I really want to win this trophy in it's current format or previous format as the UEFA Cup we've never won it before and a squad the size of ours should be able to handle it.

The following teams will be dropping down to the Europa Legue from Champions League after finishing 3rd in their group.

Ludogrets, Besiktas, Borrusia Monchengladbach, FC Rostov, Tottenham, Legia Warsaw, FC Copenhagen, Lyon

No real big casualties dropping out this year Spurs would of hoped to get through that group but they are novices really at that level
