Did the FA Cup final this year as well.

Didn't realise he did the World Cup in 2014

People slag off our refs but they're nearly always involved at the business end of tournaments so they are obviously amongst the best around.

Quote:
Germany’s head coach, Joachim Löw, and defender Mats Hummels have criticised the expanded format for the European Championship, saying the quality has suffered as a result.

Speaking after Germany were eliminated by France in the semi-finals on Thursday night, Löw proposed a return from 24 to 16 nations in future to ensure more excitement.

“I think 24 teams are too many,” he said on sport1.de. “The World Cup’s going to be increased to 40 teams and it’s getting more and more, and that’s a problem in the long term. Sometimes you get the feeling it’s not doing football any good. The quality is suffering.”

Germany faced Ukraine, Poland, Northern Ireland, Slovakia and Italy on their way to the semi-finals while France took on Romania, Albania, Switzerland, Republic of Ireland and Iceland on their way into the last four. According to Hummels, that meant too many games against inferior opponents who limited themselves to trying to defend a goalless draw, three of which could have been enough to qualify for the last 16.

“The level at this European Championship was not what we had hoped for,” said Hummels. “There were many teams who didn’t want to do anything with the ball and just packed men behind the ball.”

I don't think adding teams has reduced the quality at all I think the main problem is to many of the big nations lack attacking talent and those who did have it didn't perform.

Also, so many teams are setup to defend now and they're all very good at getting men behind the ball and with so few players who can beat men in one vs one situations you get stalemate a lot of the time.

Germany have produced so many great players lately but where are the strikers?

Even those who don't like him must feel for him put out of the final by a snide tackle by payet knew he was leaving a bit on Ronaldo with that one.

Sissoko running the show here he really wants that move away from Newcastle

Unfortunately social media shows how petty these people are. Most people delighted and calling it karma

I'd say mine is mostly sympathetic but some people enjoy watching him suffer to be fair he encourages the hate so not surprising when it comes his way.

Been a very cagey game the Portugal keeper has made a few good saves can see extra time being much the same

Can't believe they waited so long to put Martial on or Kante to release Pogba further forward.

Cracking goal by Eder people will say they didn't deserve it but they played as a team made it so hard for anyone to beat them

And so the worst tournament I've ever seen comes to an end in for most fittingly dour final, won by a team who finished 3rd in their group and won one game in 90 minutes.

Good riddance

I thoroughly enjoyed the tournament. Probably because I spent most of the games in a pub drunk singing Will Griggs on fire.

Think it's part of a wider trend in football so many teams are setup to defend now not many teams want to be on the ball on the time and play risky attacking football.

I think this was quite a poor tournament it lacked back and forth games the only one that comes to mind was Hungary 3-3 Portugal and it must be one of the lower scoring tournaments.

Everyone loves underdog stories until you get to the 1/4 finals and don't have the big head to head clashes you kind of want later in the tournament where you get 2 top quality teams prepared to go at each other.

I also think there might be a case of with the game being so global now it's hard for teams to spring a surprise every team has the opposition so well scouted that you don't get many of those unknowns that catch you out at tournaments.

This was worse. I recall Euro 2004 having some good games, an England that performed but a terrible winner.

This was just dreadful.
