I thought if Rafa didn't win here he'd be out of a job. Sometimes just a fresh face coming in can lift the squad. Maybe they're going to give him until the end of the group stages but I really cannot see him being there in 2010

....he just signed a megabucks 5 or 6 year deal.... and right now, Liverpool don't have 10s of millions of quid, to chuck at a fella they gave a long term contract to, 5 months ago :cash: :wad:

Yeah I understand that (how foolish was that  ) I never understand why there aren't clauses in contracts for managers with targets to meet and if they don't meet them then they can be sacked and aren't entitled to the bumper pay offs they get or would this be illegal?

I just think if the team carrys on going the way it is then we'll see the takeover happen and Rafa off.

I guess it's all to do with the lack of "freedom" they have. If they want to leave and take another job then football rules state his old club should be compensated.

Also, I guess the way contract are worded are that Rafa Benitez will supply Liverpool with his services for 5 years at a cost of £25m. This will be paid in monthly installments so if they decide to break the contract they're still liable for the whole sum.

It's not just Rafa his spanish back room staff goes deep into the heart of Liverpool now the boot room has been closed and replaced with a trendy tapas bar. I actually think Rafa leaving would cause far more internal problems than say Wenger or Fergie leaving would. He's almost made himself unsackable.

Rafa's no idiot - he made that deal after finishing 2nd at the right time - unless some oil baron comes in, Liverpool can't afford to pay off his contract.
