Thought he had a good game tonight for me outshone England's Rose Jack Wilshere in midfield who was woeful

Wilshere isn't Englands rose anymore. We've moved on to Barkley

I thought he did well last night. Good energy in amongst the Arsenal midfield. He broke up a lot of the Arsenal play maybe he could have been better on the ball. But to be fair the movement and the option of our boys when we had the ball was pretty poor.

Considering his performance level recently it was much improved it's still not brilliant and he isn't the answer to our problems but if he can perform like that on a regular basis he's a decent squad player for Man Utd. A few more games like that and hopefully the fans will get off his back and he can just get on with being a decent footballer and who knows he might suddenly spark into life and add a new dimension to his game.

For how bad our CM's are you have to say they more than matched Arsenal's last night I thought Carrick/Cleverley were much better than Arteta/Wilshere who were really poor just like they were on Saturday vs Liverpool.

Well that about sums up this country and it's dipsh*t fans.

I'm no huge fan of the guy but he'll go and do his best when asked.

Last time this sort of thing happened it was probably Hargreaves, then he ended up being our player of the tournament.

It's a joke I'm assuming all the idiots who sign this sort of thing would've turned down a pro football career and the chance of playing for their country because they don't think they're good enough. I think he did believe his own hype a bit in the breakthrough season and the people around him made some bad decisions that didn't help him.

I don't ever really see Cleverley not trying hes just not a world beater he should be a squad player at Utd bit like Gibson was for us covering injuries/suspensions then move on to have a decent career.

If Henderson keeps up his form Cleverley will probably miss out let's not forget most of his caps came when he was starting for the side that won the league by 11 points. Obviously on this seasons form he shouldn't be going but I trust Hodgson to make the correct decision. We aren't exactly blessed in CM

Quote:
England boss Roy Hodgson has defended Tom Cleverley after an online petition was set up calling for the Manchester United midfielder to be banned from selection for his World Cup squad.

The petition, which accuses Cleverley of "inept" displays, has gained over 10,000 signatures since it was posted.

Hodgson, who has included the 24-year-old in Wednesday's squad to face Denmark, said: "It doesn't impress me.

"He deserves to be in this 30-man group. He's done an awful lot of good."

Cleverley has been part of a Manchester United side which has struggled in manager David Moyes's first season in charge and sit seventh in the Premier League table.

But Hodgson said: "I don't think it's correct people should single out one player for Manchester United's lack of success this season.

"I would like to think that I'm not going to have the England team selected in the future by petitions from various people who are holding it against one person for a team's lack of success.

"You can't expect a football coach to have any sympathy with it."

While Hodgson is adamant Cleverley warrants his place in the party to face Denmark at Wembley, he added he can offer no guarantees the midfielder will be make his final party for this summer's finals in Brazil.

He added: "Whether he'll make the 23 or not will of course depend on a lot of things, not least of all how he does in the next couple of months.

"But that doesn't just apply to Tom Cleverley, that applies to a good many players. I'm disappointed that Tom, as a sensitive young man, has got to bear that burden.

"But I know one thing - he will come through it and when he does come through it and Manchester United start winning again and he's starting to get praise for his performances, he'll be stronger for it."

His confidence is totally shot and fans at our club need to get behind him trolling him on twitter doesn't help anyone and fans need to make sure they stick behind him in matches to try and rebuild his confidence.

He's nowhere near as bad as some people make out but neither is he the new Paul Scholes in form he's a decent squad player for Man Utd in his current form he would struggle to make get a game in most mid table prem sides.

He's not that local he's from Bradford which isn't exactly on the doorstep he move to the club when he was 14 I think.

I agree though he's a good enough squad player but he needs support rather than being blamed for the fact that our team is sh*te this season there are other players who should be taking the brunt of the blame before him.

We've reached over 15,000 signatures.

Most of the England 'fans' are complete muppets.

The more signatures that thing gets the more I want Hodgson to take him just to p*ss off these muppets.

Could we give them all banning orders? Football is better off without idiots like these.

Anyone over the age of 10 to sign something like that should be ashamed of themselves it's not far off bullying

Apparently Villa have tabled a £7m bid for him.

Could be a good move for him needs to get his career back on track.

Wouldn't sign for Villa because they wouldn't meet his (rumoured £80k) wage demands.

Who the f*ck does he think he is? I hope he spends the rest of his time here in the reserve team.
