Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says he will seek to strengthen his squad with "two or three" new players for next season.

Wenger will announce one signing before the World Cup, expected to be Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh.

But with centre-backs William Gallas, Sol Campbell and Mikael Silvestre all out of contract in June, defensive reinforcements may also be required.

"I believe in the squad I have but if I can make an addition - two or three maximum - then I will," Wenger said.

If he does make three top class signings, does anyone think it can lead to a Premiership title? For me, if they had a prolific striker this season they would have won it.

Next season will be alot more difficult but with three correct signings, could it be Arsenals year?

Centre back, goalkeeper, striker... they'd be a real force. So I think that yes, 3 signings would get them there.

You know what Paks like. He's probably voted JSP for woman of the year or something.

I think they'd have been much closer had RvP not got that injury early on in the season. To challenge next year they definitely need a new keeper, centre back and a strong central midfielder that can support Fabregas. A striker to partner RvP wouldn't do them any harm either.

Edit: What D_S said :D

If they get a good front man, a good centre half, a keeper and retain Gallas, I think they'll put in a very strong challenge.

They need a keeper, 2 CB's (Gallas is leaving) and a midfielder.

I think Fabregas is off especially with Barca going out of Europe in the semi finals they'll sign him just to try and prove a point.

Striker's RvP will be back next season and Bendtner for all his faults isn't bad back up plus it looks like Chamack (sp) is a done deal.

I don't think they're far away I think they just need a few more experienced heads especially in the midfield who can close a game out. They've let teams back in to games far to often and they definitely need a player who can impose himself on the opposition in the big games.

As for winning the title if they bring in 3 quality players and Utd and Chelsea don't strengthen then you have to say they've got a great chance especially if RvP stays fit.

If they made those signings I would put their squad strength on a par with United's from the 06/07 season, in which United won the league.

I take it this is with the money they're getting for selling Fabregas?

Also haven't they already signed Chamakh or whatever his name is?

I think Fabregas will have one or two more seasons with Arsenal. He's only young, he can afford to leave the Barca dream alone for a while. Be interesting to see the money being offered for him though!

Thing is he's already done 6 years at Arsenal and not won anything maybe he might stay until they do win something even a Carling Cup but Barca imo will make a bid this summer especially if he does well at the world cup and if they stick £50m on the table Arsenal will sell.

Might of been on the bench but it was the season after the FA cup when he really broke through when they got to the ECL final.

Don't forget his European Championship winners medal plus an £80k a week contract so i'm sure that makes up for it.

Arsenal claim to be 'cash rich' with around £45m in the 'war chest'

He could get £160k if he fancies it in Spain.
