Not surprising think he's in the last year of his contract it's a shame it didn't quite work out for these two but to many injuries for them has means careers were to stop start.

Hope he lands on his feet somewhere and gets fit as the kid is very talented was only 2 seasons ago he was named in PFA team of the year scored some cracking goals along the way.

Galatasaray are closing in on Rafael da Silva following Manchester United’s expected acquisition of the Torino right-back Matteo Darmian.

United will officially announce the Italy defender as Louis van Gaal’s second summer signing, meaning the club can allow the Brazilian to be sold. The 25-year-old Da Silva, who earns around £65,000 a week and has a contract that expires next summer, fell out of favour under the Dutchman.

Although Da Silva suffered injury last term that disrupted part of his campaign, Van Gaal did not trust him defensively and used the winger Antonio Valencia as an auxiliary option in the position.

Once Darmian, who will cost an initial £12.9m, is officially announced he will join Memphis Depay as new United players this summer. The Dutch forward was bought from PSV Eindhoven for £25m after top-scoring in the club’s championship-winning season.

He's on his way for a medical at Lyon for a reported fee of €3m (£2m)

Injury prone with 1 year on his deal but that is a very low fee

Shame to see him go but I think it's time to move on maybe needs a clean slate at another club to get his career back on track.

1 full season out of 6 just isn't good enough he couldn't stay fit and that was his problem

Good luck Rafael.

£2m is an outrageous price.

I think it's one of those where Utd are willing to let him go cheap just to get him out.

I'd hope there are significant add ons on top but there probably isn't.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed the arrival of Rafael, but admits a deal is yet to be finalised with Manchester United.

The Brazilian has been deemed surplus to requirements under Louis van Gaal, who preferred Antonio Valencia at right-back last season before signing Matteo Darmian from Torino this summer.

Rafael has been linked with a move to Turkey but it seems Lyon have won the race for the 25-year-old, with Aulas tweeting that the "cheerful Brazilian" has arrived in France to finalise a deal.

Aulas says the Ligue 1 side expect to reach an agreement with United, who similarly allowed Robin van Persie to travel to Fenerbahce before a fee had been agreed. Reports on Monday suggest an amount in the region of £2.1million will seal the deal.

Rafael has made 109 first-team appearances since joining the club from Fluminense in 2008 along with twin brother Fabio. The energetic right-back emerged as a fan favourite at Old Trafford under Sir Alex Ferguson but poor form under David Moyes and Van Gaal's lack of trust has seen his stock fall dramatically.

Good luck in France. :(

You were United through and through and sad to see you go. It's the injury record that did him in for Van Gaal I reckon.

And put a reducer on three while you're there for me on a certain Angel Di maria!

I want to thank Manchester United fans for all the love during those 8 years.

Moved to the right thread.

Shame it hasn't quite worked out here but hope he gets his career back on track at Lyon and I'm sure he'll do his best to hurt Di Maria.

The kid loved Utd but sadly if you can't stay fit you have to go

Chose the number 20 shirt, because of united's title by all accounts. :fonz:

Still not entirely sure why we sold him.
